Texans Extend Nico Collins with $75M Deal

Nico Collins

Earlier this Tuesday, Nico Collins inked a three-year contract extension with the Houston Texans, as reported by The Athletic's Dianna Russini. The deal reportedly has the potential to earn Collins as much as $75 million, with a guaranteed sum of $52 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This commitment to Collins by the Texans is their second major transaction involving a wide receiver this offseason, following the trade for four-time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs in April. The Texans are now boasting a powerful lineup including a promising young quarterback and a trio of Pro Bowl-level receivers: Collins, Diggs and Tank Dell.

After spending three years in the AFC South cellar, the Texans' rebuild took a significant leap in 2023, with Collins' contributions being recognized and rewarded. Notably, Collins dramatically flipped the narrative in his third season. The 6-foot-4 receiver emerged as the top deep target and red-zone option for quarterback C.J. Stroud, becoming a regular spectacle of touchdown conversions.

Collins and the Texans are set to continue OTAs in Houston this Wednesday, followed by a three-day mandatory minicamp next week. Their first significant action of 2024 will take place in a Week 1 contest at the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 8. Then, they'll take center stage in one of their six prime-time games in a home matchup against No. 1 pick Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football in Week 2.
